“Prioritization of Development Projects” in TMA Toba Tek Singh

 A planning workshop on “Prioritization of Development Projects” was held on August 2, 2007, in TMA office, Toba Tek Singh. The workshop was part of the urban planning process initiated by Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company under Punjab Municipal Services Improvement Project (PMSIP). Purpose of the workshop was to involve public participation in the process of development projects identification. It was attended by Tehsil Nazim, Mian Muhammad Javed, Union Nazims, Naib Nazims, councilors, NGOs and PMDFC staff.

Mian Muhammad Javed, Tehsil Nazim of Toba Tek Singh gave a welcome address and appreciated the efforts being made by PMDFC to help in alleviation of the problems of Toba Tek Singh. He briefed audience about the ongoing PMSIP water supply sub-project with a cost f Rs 53.0 million.  Talal A. Khan, Manager ID,PMDFC gave presentation highlighting background of the project and the role of PMDFC as well as importance of the planning process and other ID initiatives undertaken by PMDFC in Toba Tek Singh.

The workshop concluded in a list of development projects for municipal services such as water supply, roads, parks, solid waste management, street lights, and slaughter houses and sewerage.

WORLD BANK SUPERVISION MISSION VISITED TEHSIL MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION TOBA TEK SINGH ON 09.05.2007

                  The mission arrived at Tehsil Municipal Administration Toba Tek Singh at 10:00 a.m and warmth welcomed by Mian Muhammad Javed Iqbal Tehsil Nazim and his team. The Tehsil Municipal Administration, PMDFC team as well as World Bank Supervision Mission were introduced. Started the session   Mr. Muhammad Saleem Khan Tehsil Municipal Officer Tehsil Municipal Administration Toba Tek Singh also welcomed the honourable guests. He described the history of Toba Tek Singh and population of Union Councils& Tehsil Toba Tek Singh. The presentation was made by Tehsil Municipal Officer regarding Capacity Building of Tehsil Municipal Administration Toba Tek Singh with the guidance of Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company in tabular as well as graphical form. The main aim was to present Institutional Development of TMA Toba Tek Singh to the World Bank Supervision Mission.

1. CAPACITY BUILDING

                Following main points were presented in details.

·          Performance Management System

      (The municipal services i.e. water supply, sewer street light, road and parks are discussed in detail.)

·          Complaint Tracking System.

·          Tehsil Municipal Administration Website.

·          Mapping of Municipal Services.

The Questions and Answers were also made during the presentation.

 2. INFRASTRUCTURE

      Infrastructure setup detail was presented by Ch. Naseer Ahmed        Chief Resident Engineer NESPAK. The project of Extension / Improvement of Water Supply Scheme Toba Tek Singh was explained in detail. The Water Supply Scheme Toba Tek Singh was presented in data & graphical form. Thereafter the team made a field  visit

i)                  The mission visited the Water Supply Scheme Bhaghat and inspected the installation and development of a tube well being installed there and made queries to the Geologist, Contractor and the Chief Resident Engineer in this regard.

ii)                   The team also visited the Water Supply Scheme Trandi running under the control of Tehsil Municipal Administration & appreciated it.

iii)                The Mission inspected and checked the Water Supply pipelines being laid on Gojra Road.

iv)                 The Mission visited Water Works No.1 and checked the activity of  construction of clear water tank.

                In the end Mian Muhammad Javed Iqbal Tehsil Nazim & Muhammad Saleem Khan Tehsil Municipal Officer thanked the honourable guests for their kind and valuable visit to Toba Tek Singh and served with lunch. The team / mission also thanked and set off for Multan.
